Minneriya safari are famous for “The Gathering,” one of the greatest wildlife spectacles in Sri Lanka wildlife tourism. During the dry season, hundreds of elephants gather around Minneriya Tank. As a result, visitors can witness an unforgettable scene. Moreover, the park is home to many other wild animals and birds.

About Minneriya National Park

Location – Found in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, Minneriya covers 88 km² of grasslands and forest, centered around the Minneriya Tank.

Best time to visit – July to September (Elephant Gathering)
Weather – Warm and dry, around 28–32°C
World-famous for the Elephant Gathering, where hundreds of elephants gather around the reservoir.

Other wildlife – Purple-faced Langur, Sambar Deer, Axis Deer, Sri Lankan Leopard (rare), Sloth Bear, Grey Langur, and Wild Buffalo. -
